We, Edith and Peter Esser, are looking worldwide for descendants and
ancestors with the surname Fidora/Fidorra and / or a derivative of
these.
In the 18th and 19th centuries
Fidora and Fidorra were strongly represented in East Prussia, especially
in the area of Ortelsburg, today Szczytno in Poland. The different
spellings of the name are due to the entries in the parish registers.
Depending on how the pastor understood or heard the name Fidora or
relatively Fidorra was recorded.
The database established by us comprises approximately
some
4.000 people and that should not signify the end. As it stated, it
is probably the largest collection of Fidora/Fidorra in the world. Not
only, we are searching for our ancestors, but for all their descendants
and would like to perpetuate them in a family tree. There are still some
gaps we would like to fill in and to do this we need your help.
Unfortunately, another source in the parish registers of Willenberg,
today called Wielbark, is incomplete due to the war.
If you are holding any information to Fidora/Fidorra or
derive from them we ask you to get in contact with us. Similarly,
requests may be made to us regarding your own ancestors. We operate this
genealogy as a pure hobby and it is free of any charge.
Our ancestors found so far date back to the 17th
century. Descendants come from all over the world including, for
example, United States of America, Canada, United Kingdom, Netherlands,
Belgium, Poland and North Africa.
We are looking forward to each of your messages!!
